Anesthesia
Instructions
Instructions Regarding Your Anesthesia
The anesthesia you will be given requires different preparation
on your part and, for your safety, it is important that you
read and follow the instructions carefully. If you are unclear
about anything, please do not hesitate to ask the Doctor or
on of his assistants.
For your surgery, please wear comfortable, loose clothing.
Shirts should have sleeves that are easily drawn above the
elbow. Please DO NOT wear flip-flops, high
heels, or clogs. Females should remove nail polish before
surgery; apply as little makeup as possible, and wear NO
jewelry.
Intravenous Sedation Medications are given through a vein
in your arm or hand, which will cause total relaxation. Although
you will not actually be unconscious, there will be very little
recall (if any) of the events surrounding the surgery.
Wave anything to eat or drink (including water) for 4-6 hours
prior to surgery. However, it is important that you take any
regular medications (high blood pressure, antibiotics, etc.)
or any pre-medications prescription that we provide, using
only small sips of water. Plan to rest for the remainder of
the day.
- DO NOT operate vehicles, power tools,
machinery, etc… for 12 hours after surgery.
- NO children will be allowed in the surgical
or recovery areas, UNLESS they are the
patients themselves.
- NO individuals, besides the patients,
under ANY circumstances, will be allowed
in the surgical or recovery areas before or during procedure.
YOU MUST ARRIVE WITH SOMEONE TO ACCOMPANY YOU AND
DRIVE YOU HOME AFTER THE PROCEDURE. YOUR RIDE MUST REMAIN
IN THE OFFICE UNTIL THE PROCEDURE IS COMPLETE. IF YOUR RIDE
LEAVES THE OFFICE, YOUR PROCEDURE WILL BE RESCHEDULED. NO
TAXI CABS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!
